Former Coach Ten Hag Finds New Role After Leverkusen Dismissal

Erik ten Hag, the renowned Dutch coach, has secured a new job after a long period of unemployment since being dismissed as manager by Leverkusen.

Erik ten Hag, former manager of Manchester United, officially announced his appointment as Technical Director of FC Twente, a top-tier Dutch league club.

The 55-year-old Ten Hag was fired by Bayer Leverkusen last September after managing only three matches, and has since been out of work in football.

Recently, Ten Hag received an offer from one of his former clubs, FC Twente, to become their Technical Director, succeeding Jan Stroayer who announced his departure after this season. Ten Hag accepted immediately, signing a contract through 2028, and will start working with the club from 1 February.

This marks Ten Hag’s fourth time working with FC Twente, as he began and ended his playing career there, and even returned for a second stint as a player during his career.

Ten Hag said, “I think it is wonderful and very special to return to FC Twente, a place where I have been a passionate supporter at Het Diekman stadium since childhood.”

“With my experience in youth development, team building, and high-performance sports culture, I want to strengthen FC Twente’s technical foundation together with all parties to maximize the club’s potential.”
