The New Favorite for Manchester United Manager Speaks Clearly About Amorim After Being Linked to the Red Devils

The new favorite for Manchester United manager has arrived, giving a clear and straightforward response about "Amorim" after being linked to managing the Red Devils.

On 7 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Oliver Glasner, manager of Crystal Palace, gave a recent interview after being named one of the top contenders to become the new manager of Manchester United, Premier League rivals who recently dismissed Ruben Amorim on Monday.

Oliver Glasner was asked about the chance of taking the Manchester United managerial role during a press conference ahead of the Premier League match where Crystal Palace will host Aston Villa tonight, following his recognized success in leading the team to FA Cup and Community Shield victories.

Meanwhile, Oliver Glasner’s contract with Crystal Palace is set to expire at the end of this season, linking him to Manchester United, which is expected to appoint an interim manager until the season’s end before finding a permanent manager in the summer.

Recently, Oliver Glasner spoke about being named the favorite for Manchester United manager, saying, "I am not allowed to gamble. There is a clause in my contract stating that I am not permitted to gamble. I have never watched it at all."

"I also cannot provide insider information because that would breach my contract. I am the manager of Crystal Palace. It makes no sense and is a waste of time to ask me further questions. Therefore, I choose not to talk about other clubs."

The Austrian coach also commented on Ruben Amorim’s dismissal by Manchester United, saying, "You might win a championship, but six months later, you are no longer the manager there."

"So, I think if you only look at the contract length, it does not guarantee the future. Even if I sign a new contract, you could still ask me every day, ‘What about the future?’"

"Ruben Amorim said in a press conference (after Manchester United drew 1-1 with Leeds United) that he had 18 months left on his contract, and then he was no longer the manager there. The only situation that keeps you in the managerial position is success."
