Liverpool Eyes Signing European Champion Coach Amid Rumors of Departure and Desire to Join Premier League

Liverpool has a strong chance of signing a "European champion coach" who is reportedly considering leaving his current team and wants to come to the Premier League.

On 7 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Germany's Bild reported that Luis Enrique, one of today's top coaches, might not renew his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, the Ligue 1 giant in France.

Luis Enrique, 55, has a contract until June 2027, and PSG wants to extend it further after he led the club to their first-ever UEFA Champions League title, along with two Ligue 1 titles, two French Cups, two French Super Cups, one FIFA Intercontinental Cup, and one UEFA Super Cup.

However, recent sources revealed that Luis Enrique has declined to renew his PSG contract because he wants a new challenge and may decide to part ways after this season.

If Luis Enrique truly decides to leave PSG, it would be a great opportunity for Liverpool to bring in this highly skilled coach. There have been previous reports that Liverpool showed interest in hiring him to replace Jürgen Klopp during a poor run for the "Reds."

Additionally, Luis Enrique told FourFourTwo, a well-known football media outlet, that someday he might move to manage a team in the English Premier League. "I want to manage in England one day. My wife probably won’t like the weather there because she’s from Barcelona and prefers the sun. It depends on the team and their football style," he said.
