Arne Slot, Liverpool's manager, has admitted this ahead of leading the team in tonight's Premier League away match against Arsenal.
Arne Slot, manager of the "Reds" Liverpool, acknowledged that his team is no longer in contention for the English Premier League title this season after trailing league leaders Arsenal by 14 points ahead of their clash tonight at Emirates Stadium.
Currently, Liverpool sits fourth in the standings, 14 points behind league leaders Arsenal, and recently Arne Slot admitted that their chances of winning the Premier League title are gone.
Slot said, "It's not ideal to say the title challenge is over because you never know what can happen in football, but the last thing we should be talking about right now is the title race."
"We know very well that our league position makes it extremely difficult to compete with Arsenal for the league championship."
"Our primary goal now is to finish in the top four or top five to secure qualification for the UEFA Champions League and other competitions we still have a chance in, such as the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup."
"And if something unexpected happens—something unprecedented—we have to be ready for that."
