One Unexpected Team: Supercomputer Predicts 2025-26 Premier League Champion After Matchday 21

One unexpected team: "Supercomputer" predicts the 2025-26 Premier League champion after matchday 21.

On 9 January 2026 GMT+7, Opta, football statistics experts, revealed the latest prediction by their supercomputer on which team has the highest chance to win the English Premier League 2025-26 season after all 20 teams completed matchday 21.

Latest Premier League standings (top 7 positions):

1. Arsenal, 49 points.

2. Manchester City, 43 points (goal difference +26).

4. Liverpool, 35 points.

5. Brentford, 33 points.

6. Newcastle United, 32 points (+5).

The supercomputer by Opta calculates that Brentford has surprisingly surged to fifth favorite, becoming a contender for the 2025-26 Premier League title after quietly gaining momentum by remaining unbeaten in their last six matches (four wins, two draws).

Aston Villa, the season's dark horse, hold third place in the predictions with a slight increase in chances, as does Liverpool in fourth, despite trailing Arsenal by 14 points.
