Dominik Szoboszlai, an important midfielder for Liverpool, has made his decision following attention from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
On 10 Jan 2026 GMT+7, CaughtOffside, a well-known football media outlet, reported that 25-year-old Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has reached a preliminary agreement to extend his contract with Liverpool, rejecting offers from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Szoboszlai still has a contract with Liverpool until 2028, and although there is no urgent need to renew it, the club wants to reward his excellent performance and preempt interest from Europe's top clubs.
Szoboszlai has impressed since transferring from RB Leipzig to the Reds under Jürgen Klopp in summer 2023 for a £60 million fee. He became a key player under manager Jürgen Klopp last season, scoring 8 goals in 49 appearances and helping the team secure their 20th Premier League title.
In the current season, Szoboszlai has started 20 Premier League matches, scoring 2 goals and providing 1 assist.
Additionally, Liverpool hopes to proceed with contract negotiations for defender Ibrahima Konaté, who will become a free agent this summer.
