Manchester United Has Made Its Decision for the January Transfer Window After Firing Amorim

Manchester United has finalized its decision for the January transfer window following the dismissal of coach Amorim.

On 11 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Ricky Massara, director of Roma, a prominent Serie A team, spoke to DAZN Italia amid reports that Roma is preparing to sign Joshua Zirkzee, a reserve forward from Manchester United, in the January winter transfer window.

Previously, Joshua Zirkzee was expected to leave Manchester United in the English Premier League after Bryan Mbeumo (Cameroon) and Ahmad Diallo (Ivory Coast) prepared to return to their clubs following their teams' elimination in the round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Reports revealed that Roma had agreed on personal terms and expected to loan Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United with a 40 million euro option to buy after this season. However, the situation has changed after the "Red Devils" dismissed coach Ruben Amorim.

Recently, Ricky Massara disclosed, "Manchester United has closed all doors following the managerial change. It now seems highly unlikely that the deal to sign Zirkzee will happen."

"We know this period is an opportunity to strengthen the team in positions where we still lack goal-scoring chances, so we will try to make the most of this opportunity."

Meanwhile, Darren Fletcher, the caretaker manager of Manchester United, addressed the situation of Koby Menu, a young midfielder who had become a substitute under Ruben Amorim, aiming to quell transfer rumors for January.

Darren Fletcher revealed that Koby Menu might get more playing time soon after reports suggested he wanted a loan move to increase his appearances. Menu is also expected to return for Manchester United in the FA Cup third round home match against Brighton today at 23:30 GMT+7.

Fletcher said, "It seems he is in a good mental state. Koby doesn't show much outwardly, so you can't really tell if he's feeling good or not."

"That's just how he is—that's his nature. But I know him well, I've known him for a long time, and I've seen him around the buildings and facilities throughout the season—not just inside, but you see people around, and I've spoken to him a bit."

"I know Koby, and I think he knows me and also knows Travis Binnion (my assistant). So he feels comfortable with his environment. He is in good mental shape and trains well. As I said, he is a hard person to read, so we will have to wait and see."
