Enrique speaks out for the first time following rumors linking him to Liverpool and Manchester United amid speculation of leaving PSG.
On 12 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique gave his latest interview following reports that he would not renew his contract with the Ligue 1 giants ahead of the French Cup round of 32 match at home against city rivals Paris FC, scheduled for 03:10 GMT+7 tonight.
Earlier reports indicated that Luis Enrique is preparing to leave PSG this summer to seek new challenges, despite having a contract until June 2027, sparking interest from several leading European clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United.
Additionally, Ousmane Dembele, the dynamic forward and recipient of both the 2025 Ballon d'Or and FIFA Best Award 2025, has reportedly declined to extend his PSG contract, which still runs until 2028.
Most recently, Luis Enrique himself addressed the issue for the first time, saying, "These rumors keep circulating around PSG. We are used to it. It is a personal matter and will remain so."
"There are many false reports. You (the media) might think that disrupting players and the team’s focus is important, but that won’t happen. Negotiations are normal but remain private. We know what we want, and that is what matters most."
"We stay calm and composed as always. Normally, you handle problems on the pitch, but now people try to distract us with false stories. Nothing of it is true."
