Liverpool Decides on Future of Chiesa After Juventus Express Interest in Bringing Him Back

James Pearce, a prominent journalist from The Athletic, stated that Juventus has shown interest in loaning Federico Chiesa, but Liverpool has no intention of letting the player leave during this winter transfer window.

On 13 Jan 2026 GMT+7, James Pearce, a Liverpool correspondent for The Athletic, revealed that Juventus has expressed interest in loaning Italian international winger Federico Chiesa during this winter transfer window, but Liverpool currently has no plans to accept such an offer.

Reports indicate that Chiesa has played 21 matches under manager Arne Slot this season. Although he has not frequently started, the club has never planned to release the player, especially given the current limited options in the attacking lineup.

Alexander Isak is sidelined with a long-term injury, while Hugo Ekitike has only recently recovered from a hamstring injury. This situation means Liverpool is unwilling to risk letting a key player go, even on a loan deal.

Pearce added that if Liverpool were to consider Juventus's proposal, two major conditions must be met: first, the offer must be a serious permanent transfer with reasonable value; second, the club must secure a suitable replacement beforehand.

Given these circumstances, the likelihood of Chiesa returning to Serie A during this transfer window is almost zero unless Juventus significantly improves their offer.
