Manchester United, known as the "Red Devils," has announced the appointment of a new manager along with the coaching staff.
Manchester United, a Premier League powerhouse, announced the appointment of Michael Carrick, the club’s legendary former midfielder, as head coach until the end of the 2025-26 season.
It is understood that previously Manchester United dismissed Rúben Amorim from the managerial position and quickly began searching for a new manager, with Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Michael Carrick as the two main candidates.
Ultimately, Manchester United decided to appoint Carrick after interviewing and discussing his vision for the team, which impressed the board the most. Carrick will be supported by assistants Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate, Travis Binnion, Jonny Evans, and Craig Mawson.
Carrick played 464 matches for Manchester United, winning five Premier League titles, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
He joined Manchester United's coaching staff after retiring in 2018 and worked under José Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjær. After Solskjær's departure, Carrick performed excellently as interim manager.
Carrick moved to manage Middlesbrough in 2022, leading them to the promotion playoffs before losing to Coventry City. He also reached the Carabao Cup semi-finals but was dismissed last year.
Meanwhile, Darren Fletcher, who previously served as interim manager of the Red Devils, will return to lead the U-18 team, playing a key role in developing players ready for Manchester United’s first team.
