"The Red Devils" Manchester United have announced the appointment of a new head coach along with the coaching staff.
"The Red Devils" Manchester United, a Premier League giant, have appointed Michael Carrick, the club's legendary former midfielder, as head coach until the end of the 2025-26 season.
It is understood that Manchester United previously dismissed Rúben Amorim from the head coach position and quickly began searching for a new coach, with Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Michael Carrick as the two main candidates.
Ultimately, Manchester United decided to appoint Carrick after interviewing and discussing his coaching approach, which impressed the club's board the most. Carrick will be supported by assistants Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate, Travis Binnion, Jonny Evans, and Craig Mawson.
Carrick played 464 matches for Manchester United, winning five Premier League titles, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
After retiring in 2018, he joined Manchester United's coaching staff, working under José Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjær. When Solskjær left the club, Carrick served excellently as interim head coach.
Carrick moved to manage Middlesbrough in 2022, leading them to the Championship playoff semifinals before losing to Coventry City. He also reached the Carabao Cup semifinals before being dismissed last year.
Meanwhile, Darren Fletcher, who previously served as interim manager for the Red Devils, will return to his role as head coach of the U-18 team, playing a key role in developing players ready for the Manchester United first team.
