Bor Boo Agrees with Meng Summerhill: Man Utd Can Beat Man City If They Dare to Drop a Star Player

Bor Boo agrees with Meng Summerhill that "Man Utd" has a chance to beat "Man City" if they dare to drop a "star player".

On 16 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Bor Boo and Meng Summerhill, two well-known international football experts, shared interesting opinions on the Clear Rim Sen program on Thairath Sport ahead of the Premier League’s standout match of Week 22 in the 2025-26 season: the Manchester derby between Manchester United and Manchester City on Saturday, 17 Jan.

Before kickoff, Man Utd appears to be the underdog compared to Man City, considering team quality, recent form, performance, and current squad situation. The "Red Devils" sit 7th with 32 points, while the "Sky Blues" hold second place with 43 points.

Thus, Bor Boo and Meng Summerhill agree that Man Utd, who will see Michael Carrick make his managerial debut as interim coach until season’s end, should drop Benjamin Sesko, their expensive forward, to the bench if they want to have a chance against Man City. Their views are as follows.

  • Bor Boo

- "For my front three, I want Brian Embolo back and fixed in position. Bruno Fernandes should keep the number 10 spot, and on the left, I want Mason Mount to use his pressing ability. As for the striker, I would drop Benjamin Sesko even though he has been scoring consecutively."

"Because against Man City, the game plan is somewhat predictable; we’ll likely be the underdog. If we leave Sesko to hold the ball, which isn't his strength, then use Matheus Cunha instead. Cunha has been playing alone upfront recently, but with his individual skill and good ball control, he should play as the striker. Let him hold the ball; if he wants to dribble, let him do so. No one will complain. I’d rather take Sesko off, that’s my view."

  • Meng Summerhill

- "I’d like to refer back to the game where they beat Liverpool away. Amorim clearly explained why Sesko wasn’t used: Liverpool’s center-back pairing—Van Dijk and Konate—is strong, so the ball wouldn’t benefit Sesko much. He chose Cunha instead and played long balls to win second balls. I think they might play similarly because the game will be on Man City’s terms."

"So Sesko probably won’t get much possession. If you just toss the ball to him, it could be easily lost. Playing like the game against Liverpool seems better: long balls from the back forward, then winning second balls and attacking quickly by turning defense into offense. Trying to keep possession and passing against them is very risky. One wrong pass and losing the ball in our own half could be fatal."
