Liverpool has made a clear decision after Klopp led the team to only a draw against Burnley, prompting loud boos from the Reds' fans.
On 19 Jan 2026 GMT+7, James Pearce, Liverpool correspondent for The Athletic, a leading UK media outlet, revealed the latest situation regarding Jürgen Klopp, the Reds' manager, amid growing fan dissatisfaction.
Although Jürgen Klopp has kept Liverpool unbeaten in 12 consecutive matches across all competitions, with 6 wins and 6 draws, the Reds' fans have increasingly voiced their frustration and called for a managerial change, especially after the team managed only a 1-1 home draw against Burnley, the Premier League's second-to-last team.
However, James Pearce recently disclosed that Liverpool currently has no plans to appoint a new manager soon, stating, "Despite the rising discontent, Klopp continues to have the backing of FSG, the club's ownership group."
Nonetheless, The Athletic added that Klopp needs to quickly generate positive momentum if he wants to avoid further erosion of fan support, even though no clear candidate has emerged among those calling for a change.
The situation has shifted following the dismissal of Xabi Alonso as Real Madrid's coach, raising the possibility that the former Liverpool player might be interested in returning to take a role at Anfield.
