Liverpool Faces Heartbreaking Departure of Key Player Despite Trophy Haul

Liverpool faces a heartbreaking moment as it prepares to part ways with a key player despite his contributions to the team's trophy wins.

On 22 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Football Insider, a prominent English media outlet, reported that Liverpool, a leading Premier League club, is highly likely to let go of veteran left-back Andrew Robertson on a free transfer after his contract expires this season.

Andrew Robertson has been a key figure in Liverpool's recent success, helping the team secure nine trophies, including two Premier League titles, two Carabao Cups, and one each of the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Community Shield.

However, Robertson has become a substitute this season following Liverpool's signing of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. Last week, he stated in an interview that he is in talks with the Reds about a new contract but insists on regular playing opportunities.

Recently, Football Insider stated: "It seems Robertson is set to leave Liverpool. The club appears to have accepted that they have seen the best of him and that it's time to move forward, which is clearly the reason behind bringing in Kerkez."

"He might return to Scotland, which makes sense at this stage of his career. He would be an excellent player for Celtic, who are reportedly closely monitoring the situation. If he is ready to move, they would sign him."

"I don't think strengthening the left-back position is Celtic's top priority, but if a player like Robertson is available and willing to move, they should not overlook the opportunity."
