Arsenal Stunned as Bernardo Silva Fires Sharp Words After Man City Eyes Premier League Title

Arsenal left stunned as Bernardo Silva delivers sharp remarks after Man City aims to overtake them for the Premier League title.

On 30 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Bernardo Silva, captain and midfielder of Manchester City, gave an interview ahead of this weekend's Premier League matches. The title race is heating up between Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Man City in a close contest.

Man City sees hope to overtake and win the Premier League again after Arsenal failed to win in three consecutive league matches (drawing 0-0 with Liverpool, 0-0 with Nottingham Forest, and losing 2-3 to Manchester United).

As a result, the latest Premier League standings show Arsenal leading with 50 points, only 4 points ahead of second-place Man City and third-place Aston Villa. This weekend, all three teams face their 24th match of the season as follows.

Leeds United vs. Arsenal (Saturday, 31 Jan)

Aston Villa vs. Brentford (Sunday, 1 Feb)

Tottenham vs. Man City (Sunday, 1 Feb)

Bernardo Silva commented on Man City's chance to overtake Arsenal for the 2025-26 Premier League title: "I just said both teams still have chances to drop points. Unfortunately, we started the year with poor form. We should have gained an advantage, but we didn't."

"And they could have extended their lead, but they didn't either. So that has given us some hope."

The Man City captain also spoke about Arsenal’s lack of experience in winning the title, despite finishing second in the last three Premier League seasons: "Liverpool have won the league twice, and we have six titles during my time in England. I have never seen Arsenal win the league, but the truth is they are currently in a better position than us."

"There are still many matches to play, and each season is different. Without a doubt, we still have hope and ambition to fight for the Premier League title."
