Ruined by Amorims Handling! Neville Blasts Former Man United Manager for Destroying Maneus Future

Ruined by Amorim's handling! Gary Neville harshly criticizes former Manchester United manager for destroying 'Maneu's' future.

On 31 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Gary Neville criticized the work of Rúben Amorim, former Manchester United manager, saying his decisions "destroyed" the career path of the team's young midfielder, Kobby Maneu.
Neville viewed Amorim's management of Maneu as poor from the start of the season, especially for publicly declaring that Maneu would compete for a position with team captain Bruno Fernandes, which severely damaged the player's image and confidence.
Furthermore, Amorim barely played Maneu, leading the 20-year-old star to consider transferring to secure regular playing time. Although Sir Jim Ratcliffe blocked Maneu's move last summer, the situation could become complicated if the player requests a transfer again in the January market.
"I have to admit, I never liked how he treated Maneu," Neville said on the Stick to Football podcast.
"I think we've talked about this many times on the show. I never agreed with how that was handled."
"When he [Amorim] said at the start of the season that it would be him or Bruno Fernandes, I completely disagreed with that."
"It ruined Kobby Maneu's reputation; it damaged his public image. After that, he hardly ever played Maneu again, except for the match against Grimsby in the cup competition."
However, everything changed after Amorim was dismissed following a disappointing 14 months in charge. Maneu returned as a key player under caretaker manager Michael Carrick, starting in major games where United defeated Manchester City and Arsenal.
