Liverpool Announces Signing of New Player, Reveals Transfer Fee and Contract Details

Liverpool has announced the signing of a new player, revealing the transfer fee and contract details.

On 3 February 2026, Liverpool, a leading Premier League club, officially announced the acquisition of 20-year-old French rising defender Jérémy Jakhet after reaching an agreement with Ligue 1 club Rennes.

Liverpool completed the deal for Jérémy Jakhet with a total fee of £60 million (2.58 billion baht), including an initial £55 million payment plus £5 million in bonuses. He signed a 5-year contract until 2031, with an option to extend for one more year, but will remain at Rennes until the end of this season.

The Reds announced the new signing on the final day of the winter transfer window (2 February 2026), stating: "Liverpool has reached an agreement for the transfer of Jérémy Jakhet from Rennes. The defender will join the team ahead of the 2026-27 season, pending work permit and international transfer clearance."

"Liverpool has signed the 20-year-old player, who will continue playing in Ligue 1 until the current season ends, then move to Anfield on a long-term contract. Jakhet, who has appeared 5 times for France U21, has played 18 matches for Rennes in the top domestic league this season."

"The center-back has played 31 matches for Rennes since his debut in January 2024. He also gained Ligue 1 experience during a loan spell at Clermont Foot."

"In 2024, Jakhet helped France reach the final of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship and was selected for the tournament's Team of the Tournament."
