Tense or still fine? Richard Hughes, Liverpool's Sports Director, spoke about Arne Slot, linking the team's inconsistent performance despite heavy spending.
On 4 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Richard Hughes, Sports Director of Liverpool, the famous Premier League club under the current management, spoke about Dutch coach Arne Slot and the team's fluctuating results despite large investments.
Arne Slot is currently under pressure even though the team invested £500 million, approximately 21.48 billion baht, last summer. Yet the team is now 6th in the league table, a contrast to last year when he led Liverpool to win the Premier League in his first season—the club's second ever title in that competition.
Recently, Richard Hughes said, “Arne Slot and I talk about football and on-field performance. I always let him lead the conversation. I don’t pressure him. During our talks, I might share my own views, but it's not to challenge him. I just wait for the right moment to share my ideas or thoughts. I have always supported him, and that will continue.”
