"Slot" reveals Liverpool has both good and bad news ahead of their fiery Premier League clash with Manchester City.
On 6 Feb 2026, Arne Slot, Liverpool's manager, shared the latest team updates ahead of the week's headline Premier League match, the 25th fixture of the 2025-26 season, as Liverpool prepares to host Manchester City on Sunday, 8 Feb.
In the current Premier League standings, Liverpool sits 6th with 39 points, aiming for a win to push for a top-four finish to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Meanwhile, Manchester City is 2nd with 47 points, needing three points to close the six-point gap behind leaders Arsenal.
Arne Slot brought good news that Liverpool will have Joe Gomez back from a muscle injury. He stated, "For Joe, we have a small hope that he might train on Saturday. He may not be ready to start, but he could help the team if needed during the game because everyone knows we have limited defensive options right now."
However, Jeremie Frimpong, the attacking right-back, has not recovered from his hamstring injury and will definitely miss the game against Manchester City. "Jeremie will not train this week, so he cannot play this weekend against Manchester City," Slot confirmed.
This leaves Liverpool with six injured players unavailable for the Manchester City match, as follows:
Jeremie Frimpong (hamstring)
Alexander Isak (leg)
Conor Bradley (knee)
Giovanni Leoni (knee)
Jayden Danes (fractured bone)
Stefan Bajcetic (hamstring)
