Excellent Response: "Carrick" Speaks Honestly on Manchester United's Pursuit of New Permanent Manager Ahead of Spurs Clash
On 6 February 2026, Michael Carrick, interim manager of Manchester United, currently fourth in the English Premier League, spoke ahead of the big match hosting 14th-placed Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, 7 February.
Under Michael Carrick's management, Manchester United has dramatically improved, securing three consecutive wins: a 2-0 victory over Manchester City, a 3-2 away win against Arsenal, and most recently a 3-2 home win over Fulham, putting them firmly in contention for a top-four finish.
However, Manchester United has not guaranteed that Michael Carrick will continue as permanent manager, and there has been no progress in appointing a new permanent coach, leaving the "Red Devils" in a state of uncertainty despite the improving results.
During a press conference, a reporter asked Michael Carrick, "Regarding the club's future and looking beyond the next game, when discussing building the team for next season, will the uncertainty over the manager position be an obstacle? You have been a player and know how it feels; players want certainty about what lies ahead."
Michael Carrick replied, "Honestly, every player has performed very well and is fully committed. We are aware of the bigger situation and what could happen, but as players, you have to focus on what lies ahead and try to do your best right now."
"For the rest of the season, I have no issues or concerns. The players have given more than you might expect in terms of full dedication, and I have said that over the past two to three weeks."
"So we focus on improving, developing ourselves, and taking the club to where we want it to be. It’s a small step, but clearly, we are aiming for a strong finish to the season."
