Liverpool resolves all issues by contacting a versatile player who fits Klopp's system.
On 6 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Marco Conterio, a journalist from the well-known Italian transfer market outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, reported that Liverpool, a leading Premier League club, has contacted Seckie Celik, a versatile defender from Roma.
Liverpool still aims to strengthen their defense, despite recently agreeing to sign 20-year-old French defender Jérémy Chiquet from Rennes for a total fee of £60 million, because Ibrahima Konaté has yet to renew his contract, which expires at the end of this season.
Meanwhile, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are set to see their contracts expire in June 2027. Additionally, Conor Bradley has suffered frequent injuries, with rumors suggesting his current knee injury could sideline him until early next year.
As a result, Liverpool has reportedly contacted Seckie Celik to bolster their squad. The 28-year-old Turkish international defender is set to become a free agent after this season, and the Reds are considering signing him on a free transfer this summer.
Marco Conterio commented on Liverpool's interest in Seckie Celik: "Roma must offer Celik a contract extension. The Turkish player prioritizes renewing with the Giallorossi, but he has already been contacted by several clubs, including Liverpool."
If Liverpool signs Seckie Celik, it would help coach Jürgen Klopp solve defensive lineup issues, as Celik can play both right-back and center-back—two positions where the Reds frequently face injury problems.
