All problems solved: Liverpool has contacted a versatile player who fits Klopp's system perfectly.
On 6 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Marco Conterio, a renowned reporter from Italy's Tuttomercatoweb, reported that Liverpool, a leading Premier League club, has contacted Roma's versatile defender Seckie Celik.
Liverpool still seeks to strengthen their defense, despite recently agreeing to sign 20-year-old French defender Jérémy Chaget from Rennes for a total fee of £60 million, because Ibrahima Konaté has yet to renew his contract expiring at season's end.
Meanwhile, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez face contracts ending in June 2027, and Conor Bradley has suffered frequent injuries; rumors say his current knee injury could sideline him until early next year.
As a result, Liverpool is reportedly pursuing Seckie Celik, the 28-year-old Turkish international defender whose Roma contract expires this season. The Reds are considering signing him on a free transfer this summer.
Marco Conterio commented on Liverpool's interest, saying, "Roma must offer Seckie Celik a contract extension, which the Turkish player prioritizes with the Giallorossi. However, he has received interest from several clubs, including Liverpool."
If Liverpool signs Seckie Celik, it would solve defensive issues for manager Jürgen Klopp, as Celik can play both right-back and center-back—two positions often troubled by injuries at Liverpool.
