Gary Lineker Jokes Sharply About Menu, Suggests Suing Former Man United Coach Amorim

Gary Lineker made a sharp joke about Kobby Menu, suggesting he should sue Ruben Amorim, former Manchester United coach.

On 11 Feb 2026 GMT+7, renowned football expert Gary Lineker expressed regret over the wasted time of young Manchester United midfielder Kobby Menu, jokingly supporting a lawsuit against Ruben Amorim if Menu was not selected for the World Cup squad.

Previously, Menu nearly had to leave Old Trafford after receiving little playing time under Amorim's management. In the first half of the season, the 20-year-old midfielder did not start a single Premier League match.

However, the situation changed immediately when Michael Carrick took temporary charge. Menu regained his starting position, starting all five league matches under Carrick, during which Manchester United remained unbeaten (4 wins, 1 draw).

At the international level, Menu has played 10 times for England since his debut two years ago and started in the Euro 2024 final against Spain. However, he has not played under Thomas Tuchel’s management, with his last national team appearance dating back to September 2024.

Lineker said on The Rest Is Football, “You know what? If I were Kobby Menu, just joking, I'd be thinking about suing him (Amorim).”

“He cost this young player a year of his career. This kid is an outstanding footballer; he makes everything look easy, wants the ball, can receive it under pressure, turns well, and always makes the right decisions. He plays with elegance.”

“Honestly, Amorim has seriously harmed his career trajectory.”
