The Hungarian national coach may cause a stir at Anfield by revealing that Dominic Soboszlai, Liverpool's talented midfielder, dreams of playing for Real Madrid.
On 15 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Liverpool faced concerns over the future of key midfielder Dominic Soboszlai after Marco Rossi, Hungary's national coach, revealed the player’s "one and only dream" is to play for Real Madrid.
Soboszlai has been a mainstay under manager Arne Slot this season, scoring 10 goals and providing 7 assists across all competitions, despite the team's inconsistent performances.
The 25-year-old recently returned to action in the FA Cup after serving a one-match suspension for a red card against Manchester City, repaying the trust by scoring in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Brighton.
However, Marco Rossi’s interview with Spanish outlet Marca has sparked significant attention when he stated,
"Soboszlai has always had just one dream: to play for Real Madrid. I don’t know if he will reach that point because the decision depends on him and the club."
Reports also note the close relationship between the Hungarian coach and the player, lending credibility to these remarks.
Soboszlai is a huge fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, who achieved his greatest success during his time at Real Madrid.
Currently, Soboszlai is under contract with Liverpool until 2028 and revealed last month that his agent has been in talks with club executives about a new contract.
He said,
"Everything is progressing, but no decision has been made. I will give my best every week and every training session for the team and the fans. I’m happy here, but you know how football is—talks are ongoing and nothing is certain yet."
Previously, Liverpool lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid last summer, and defender Ibrahima Konaté is also linked with the Spanish giants as his contract nears expiration in the coming months.
This situation has caused Liverpool fans to worry that Real Madrid might target more stars from Anfield in the near future.
