How Did Former Liverpool Player Get Arrested by Police at the Airport?

Jordan Ibe, former Liverpool player, was arrested by police at the airport.

On 16 February 2026, Jordan Ibe, former winger for the "Reds" Liverpool, was arrested by police at Luton Airport after arriving from Bulgaria. He is currently facing assault charges.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed to The Sun newspaper, "Jordan Ibe is charged with assault causing actual bodily harm related to an incident on 14 December 2025. He was arrested at Luton Airport and taken into custody for questioning. The 30-year-old has since been released on bail but must appear in court on 6 March."

Ibe, currently playing for Lokomotiv Sofia in Bulgaria, made his name representing England at U18 and U21 levels and appeared 41 times for Liverpool's senior team from 2012 to 2016, despite several loan spells during that period.

In 2016, Ibe transferred to Premier League side Bournemouth for a then-record fee of £15 million. However, his career soon declined sharply due to mental health issues and poor form.

After multiple attempts to revive his career at lower-tier clubs, he eventually moved to play in Bulgaria.

This latest arrest at the airport adds to several off-field controversies, leaving fans saddened over the loss of a promising Premier League talent.
