Carragher says Liverpool stole victory from Forest, criticizes Salah and Gakpo for being outperformed by young players.
On 23 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Jamie Carragher fiercely criticized Liverpool despite their 1-0 away win over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, calling it “one of the biggest robberies of the season.” He also blamed the performances of Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo for lacking impact, noting that a youngster, Rio Nguamoha, performed better.
At the City Ground, Liverpool’s winning goal came in the 97th minute from Alexis Mac Allister. However, the overall 90 minutes were not impressive. Liverpool had 10 shots with 4 on target, while Forest had 18 shots and controlled 47% possession, close to Liverpool’s 53%. Throughout the match, the home side clearly looked more dangerous.
Carragher said, “This is one of the biggest robberies I have seen in the Premier League this season.”
"Rio Nguamoha came on in the 77th minute but did more than Gakpo and Salah combined throughout the entire game. This young player changed the game; he should be starting regularly now."
