Trabzonspor has taken action after learning the transfer fee Manchester United set for André Onana.
Trabzonspor, a Turkish league club, has decided not to permanently buy André Onana, the Cameroonian goalkeeper, from Manchester United, nicknamed the "Red Devils," after being quoted a high fee of £43 million, bringing his future at Trabzonspor to a dead end.
It is understood that Manchester United is pleased with the performance of Senne Lammens, who has helped the team remain near the top of the English Premier League, and they want to sell Onana permanently after loaning him to Trabzonspor until the end of this season.
However, the latest report from Manchester Evening News states that a major obstacle has emerged regarding Onana's permanent transfer to Trabzonspor, as the Turkish club appears to be struggling with the high transfer fee demanded by Manchester United.
Earlier reports said Onana was open to staying with Trabzonspor and was also considering options in Serie A, but now that desire seems at odds with financial reality since Trabzonspor is unwilling to pay the £43 million fee requested by United.
Seyyit Kafkas, vice president of Trabzonspor, said, "Because the transfer fee Manchester United demands for André Onana is £43 million, our club president has informed everyone about the reality (that the club is not prepared to pay that amount)."
Regarding Onana's performance at Trabzonspor, he has conceded 31 goals in 21 matches across all competitions. Therefore, it is highly likely he will need to find a new club after this season to secure regular playing time next season, because if he stays at Manchester United, he will only be a backup to Lammens.
