Tougher Than the Premier League! Garnacho Admits Wrexham Gave a Nerve-Wracking Challenge Before Leading Chelsea to a Narrow Win

Tougher than the Premier League! "Garnacho" admitted that Wrexham gave a nerve-wracking challenge before leading Chelsea to a narrow, hard-fought victory, advancing to the FA Cup quarterfinals.

On 8 Mar 2026 GMT+7, Alejandro Garnacho, the outstanding Argentine winger, spoke after the dramatic FA Cup fifth-round match. He admitted feeling both joyful and relieved after helping Chelsea narrowly beat Wrexham 4-2 in extra time.

Garnacho showcased an impressive performance throughout the game, contributing to the opening goal and continuously troubling the opponent's defense. He then became the hero by scoring a crucial goal in extra time, securing the advantage that led to victory.

“It was a very valuable win. I think this was one of the toughest games of the season. It was a real battle. Playing away at a ground like this is always challenging, sometimes even more pressure than in the Premier League,” said the 21-year-old with pride.

“You have to be ready for everything in games like this, every moment counts, and it gets even harder during extra time. But in the end, we got through it. We are very proud today, and we've made it to the next round.”

Despite playing the full 120 minutes, Garnacho credited his teammates, especially the substitutes who changed the game, emphasizing that having a squad that can cover for each other is key to pursuing success.

“In football, if you want to win trophies, you need a strong team overall because we play every three days. You have to trust everyone, and we have excellent players. Now we're in the quarterfinals, and we will fight to win the FA Cup. Winning a trophy is always a great achievement.”

After the tough cup battle, Chelsea has little time to rest, as they must soon shift focus to the UEFA Champions League round of 16 against Paris Saint-Germain next week.

“Our job now is to recover quickly to prepare for Wednesday’s game. I’m confident we have the potential to win, and we will give our all to advance to the next stage,” Garnacho concluded confidently.
