Michael Owen, former England national team striker, believes that "the Reds" Liverpool remain the best team in the English Premier League, pointing out that they are currently 6th only because they are not playing well.
Arne Slot led Liverpool to win the Premier League in his first season in charge, but the defending champions have faced consistency issues this season and currently sit 6th in the table, 19 points behind leaders Arsenal.
However, Owen insisted that Liverpool is the best team in the Premier League and could return to their best form next season.
“Personally, I think they are the best team in the Premier League,” Owen said at the start.
"People might laugh and say, 'Where are they? Sixth in the league?' They won the league last season. They are just not playing well."
"But if you saw the best form of every Premier League team and said, 'Come on, bring the best teams together,' I think Liverpool is the best team. Winning at Anfield is impossible when they are playing well.”
"Of course, they have played worse this season, but I think it’s just a matter of time. Maybe next season, you will see them back in their best form again."
