Former Liverpool adversaries Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes have advised Manchester United to sign a Premier League star at a reasonable price.
On 19 Mar 2026 GMT+7, The Sun, a prominent UK media outlet, reported that Manchester United, currently 3rd in the English Premier League, is interested in signing Brazilian midfielder André from fellow league club Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.
Man Utd is seeking a replacement for the experienced 34-year-old Casemiro, whose contract expires this June. The plan includes signing two new central midfielders, with main targets being Elliott Anderson (Nottingham Forest), Adam Hložek (Crystal Palace), and Sandro Tonali (Newcastle).
However, these three targets have high transfer fees, prompting Man Utd to look for additional options. André has emerged as an interesting alternative, gaining increasing support from players within the "Red Devils" squad.
Sources say André's abilities have been recommended by Casemiro, who plays the same position, as well as Bruno Fernandes, the team captain midfielder, and Matheus Cunha, the forward and former Wolves player. All see his potential to reach top-level performance.
André has already earned 13 caps for Brazil's senior national team, despite not being included in Carlo Ancelotti's latest squad announcement. He has shown outstanding personal form at Wolves after transferring from Fluminense for £21 million last season.
Although Wolves currently sit bottom of the Premier League this season, their recent form over the last five games has notably improved (2 wins, 2 draws, 1 loss), including a 2-2 draw with Arsenal, 2-0 win over Aston Villa, and a 2-1 victory against Liverpool, with André scoring the decisive goal in the 90+4th minute.
Reports reveal that if Man Utd pursues André, the transfer fee is expected to be around £35 million but could be lower if Wolves are relegated from the Premier League. Liverpool and Bayern Munich have also shown interest in him.
