A champion-winning coach is reportedly ready to accept the role as Liverpool's new manager if Jürgen Klopp is dismissed and terms are agreed upon.
Germany's Bild reported that Xabi Alonso, former Real Madrid manager, is prepared to become the new manager of Liverpool, nicknamed "The Reds," on the condition that he has full control over the team's player transfer plans, as he previously faced interference while managing Real Madrid.
The fate of current Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp seems sealed after the team's 1-2 loss to Brighton last weekend, leaving them in fifth place in the league standings and making qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League increasingly uncertain.
This marks the first time Liverpool has lost 10 league matches since the 2015/16 season. It is quite clear that if the team's performance does not improve, Klopp is likely to be dismissed either before the season ends or at its conclusion. Liverpool has already identified Xabi Alonso, currently unemployed after parting ways with Real Madrid, as his potential replacement.
Recent reports state that Alonso, who led Bayer Leverkusen to three trophies and a Europa League final in the 2023-24 season, is ready to become Liverpool's new manager and would accept immediately if presented with a concrete offer.
The condition involves Alonso having influence over team planning, including control of the player transfer market, due to problems he faced when managing Real Madrid.
At that time, Real Madrid promised Alonso he would direct and plan the transfer market, but he ultimately did not get the players he wanted. Alonso will not allow such issues to occur again and is confident his demands will be met by Liverpool.
