The "Reds" Liverpool are reportedly considering signing a pacey Premier League winger to replace Mohamed Salah this summer.
Spanish media outlet Fichajes reported that Liverpool, the Premier League giants, are considering Anthony Gordon, the English winger from "The Magpies" Newcastle United, as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, who is set to leave Anfield at the end of this season.
Gordon has again performed impressively this season for Newcastle, scoring a total of 17 goals and providing 4 assists across all competitions.
Although finding a replacement for Liverpool legend Salah is not easy, targeting a player like Gordon, who has demonstrated the ability to perform at a high level in both the Premier League and Champions League, seems reasonable.
Reports say Gordon is on Liverpool’s target list alongside other notable wingers such as Bradley Barcola from PSG and Yann Diomande from RB Leipzig, while Bayern Munich have already confirmed they will not sell Michael Olise.
Certainly, Newcastle may be unhappy about selling another key player to Liverpool, especially after having sold Alexander Isak to the Reds last summer, but a move to Liverpool seems like a positive decision for both the club and the player.
The 25-year-old star wants to take his career to the next level, and Liverpool might be the ideal stage for him, as Newcastle have struggled this season and are likely to miss out on European football next year.
Some Liverpool fans may feel the club should seek a better player than Gordon, but he appears to be a more suitable option compared to other targets.
