The "Blues" Chelsea have announced a pre-tax loss figure that is the highest in Premier League history.
Chelsea, the Premier League giant known as the "Blues," announced a pre-tax loss of £262.4 million, setting a new club record in the Premier League.
The previous Premier League record for the highest pre-tax loss was held by Manchester City, known as the "Sky Blues," with £197.5 million in the 2010-11 season.
In the prior fiscal year, Chelsea made a profit of £128.4 million, largely due to nearly £200 million gained from selling their women's team to Blueco Midco, a subsidiary company.
Chelsea stated that part of the loss was due to increased operating expenses in the 2024-25 season, including player agent fees and transfer spending, compared to the previous year.
Meanwhile, revenue stood at £490.9 million, the second highest in the club’s history, boosted by earnings from winning the FIFA Club World Cup in mid-2025.
Chelsea confirmed they have no issues with breaching the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), having complied fully with financial regulations.
