Romano Reports Liverpool’s Latest Good News After Robertson Announces Departure at Season’s End

Romano himself reports that Liverpool has received the latest good news after Robertson announced he will leave following this season.

On 10 April 2026 GMT+7, Fabrizio Romano, a journalist specializing in the football transfer market, reported that Liverpool, the well-known Premier League club, is close to reaching an agreement to extend the contract of French international defender Ibrahima Konaté.

Ibrahima Konaté's contract with Liverpool is set to expire after this season, with two major clubs, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, reportedly ready to sign him on a free transfer if he decides to leave Anfield.

However, Romano recently stated that "negotiations have advanced to the final stages after Real Madrid ended talks in November and informed Liverpool of their plans."

"Currently, Konaté and Liverpool are discussing the final contract details, with all parties hopeful of reaching an agreement soon."

Meanwhile, L'Équipe, a leading French media outlet, also reported similarly that Konaté's representatives expect to finalize the contract extension with Liverpool before the 2026 World Cup begins in June.

Additionally, David Lynch, another Liverpool-focused journalist, revealed that negotiations have progressed well after a pause caused by his representatives requesting a wage increase from his current £150,000 per week (6.5 million baht).

This is good news for Liverpool following Andrew Robertson's recent announcement that he will leave upon his contract's expiry in June, as well as Mohamed Salah's declaration on 24 March that he will depart the Reds after this season. Although Salah's contract runs until 2027, he has agreed to part ways as a free agent.
