Carrick Opens Up About His Goals If Appointed Permanent Manchester United Manager

Michael Carrick revealed his goals if he gets the chance to become the permanent manager of Manchester United.

Michael Carrick, the interim manager of the "Red Devils" Manchester United, confirmed that his goal is to bring the club back to winning the English Premier League. He said this would be his top priority if given the opportunity to be the permanent manager.

Carrick said, “Pressure is something I have dealt with for a long time. The expectations here, the ways to achieve goals, the support we receive, and the intense scrutiny become normal after a while. For me, it doesn’t feel as overwhelming as it might seem from the outside.”

“I understand the situation (about the chance to get a permanent contract). Everything will unfold in due time. For me, it’s about performing as well as possible and planning for the future for the benefit of the club and the players. I’m not here just to finish the season and then deal with what comes next.”

“I think it’s important that we plan and follow through on that plan to strengthen the team. If I’m part of that plan, then I’m involved. If not, then that’s a situation I have to face.”

It is understood that Manchester United has set a target to win the Premier League by 2028, giving them two summer transfer windows to build a squad capable of lifting the trophy.

United has not won the title since 2013, Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season. The closest they came was under Ole Gunnar Solskjær, finishing second behind Manchester City.

“I want it to happen (for Manchester United to win the Premier League) someday. You want to believe it will happen. For some reason, it hasn’t yet. Timing is important, and if I can make it happen, that would be incredible.”

“That must be a goal someday for this football club — to win the league again. That’s what we want.”
