Man Utd and Liverpool Battle to Sign Championship-winning Coach for Next Season

Manchester United and Liverpool are united in launching a battle to sign a championship-winning coach to lead their teams for the next season.

TeamTalk, a well-known football media outlet, reported that the "Red Devils" Manchester United and the "Reds" Liverpool, two giants of the English Premier League, have begun contact to approach Julian Nagelsmann, the German national team coach, about becoming their new manager.

Although Nagelsmann is only 38 years old, his career path includes leading top European clubs such as Bayern Munich, where he won the Bundesliga title once. His representatives are now actively promoting his name to major English clubs.

Both Manchester United and Liverpool are aware of his availability, and the two clubs have shown interest and held initial discussions.

Manchester United is seeking a permanent manager while evaluating Michael Carrick’s interim tenure, who has currently led the team to 3rd place in the Premier League standings. However, the team's performance has been somewhat inconsistent, most recently losing at home to Leeds United 1-2.

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp’s future has become increasingly uncertain after the team was eliminated in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals and lost all chances of winning any trophies this season. Although Xabi Alonso is considered a leading candidate to replace Klopp if he is dismissed, Nagelsmann has now also been added to Liverpool’s shortlist.

Nagelsmann himself is currently focused on leading the German national team at the 2026 World Cup, aiming to bring the 'Die Mannschaft' their fifth World Cup title in history before considering his own future.
