A former Manchester City star has spoken out after his current club suffered a painful relegation from the Premier League.
Kyle Walker, Burnley's defender, admitted he felt deeply disappointed after his team lost 0-1 at home to Manchester City in the English Premier League last night. The defeat confirmed Burnley's relegation to the Championship for next season. However, he hopes this painful experience will motivate the team to return to the top flight once again.
Walker said, “It was a disappointing night. I am a Burnley player and I did my best for the club to ensure we got good results. Unfortunately, now we are relegated, but we have to play the remaining games with that same level of performance.”
“Thank you to the fans for all their support this season, and I hope we make you proud next season.”
“I came here with the dream of helping this club avoid relegation. I have achieved a lot personally, but this was one of the things I really wanted to accomplish. Keeping this team from relegation would have been very special. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen.”
“The dream of many in the Premier League has now ended. They have to use this as motivation to make sure we come back here next season.”
