Micky van de Ven, Tottenham defender, has reportedly chosen his new team after being linked with Manchester United and Liverpool.
Ben Jacobs, a well-known football journalist, reported that Micky van de Ven, the key defender of the "Spurs" Tottenham Hotspur, would prefer to move to the "Reds" Liverpool rather than the "Red Devils" Manchester United if his club is relegated from the Premier League this season.
Manchester United was recently linked with the Dutch international defender as they look to strengthen their defense in the summer. However, Jacobs is confident that van de Ven will opt for Liverpool because the chance to play alongside fellow countryman Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool's club captain, is very appealing to him.
Jacobs stated, “This is bad news for Manchester United regarding Micky van de Ven.”
“If Liverpool competes with Manchester United for this player, van de Ven will decide to join Liverpool. I say this with utmost confidence.”
Van de Ven’s potential transfer will only happen if Tottenham is relegated. Spurs would not be able to keep van de Ven in that case, and several key players are also expected to leave.
Currently, Tottenham is in 18th place with only five matches remaining. They are just two points away from the safety zone and are fighting hard to avoid relegation.
