The Premier League has explained the moment West Ham had a goal disallowed in their 0-1 home defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League.
The incident happened in the 90+5 minute stoppage time when Arsenal were leading 1-0. West Ham took a corner kick, and Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya came out to punch the ball away. The Gunners' defense failed to clear it properly, allowing Callum Wilson to shoot the ball across the goal line before it was blocked out. The referee initially awarded West Ham an equalizing goal at 1-1. However, after a VAR review, the decision was overturned and West Ham's goal was disallowed due to a foul, resulting in a dramatic 1-0 win for Arsenal.
The Premier League recently clarified the situation, stating, "After reviewing VAR, the referee changed the decision from West Ham being awarded a goal to no goal given." "This was because Pablo Felipe, West Ham's number 19, committed a foul on Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya."
With this victory, Arsenal increased their tally to 79 points, maintaining their lead at the top of the English Premier League table. They are now 5 points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, although Arsenal have played one more match.
