Bowen vents frustration after West Hams home loss to Arsenal

Jarrod Bowen, West Ham's attacker, spoke out after his team had a goal disallowed by VAR in their latest Premier League defeat to Arsenal.

Jarrod Bowen, the attacker for the "Hammers" West Ham United, said he could not accept seeing his team have a goal taken away by VAR in the recent English Premier League match, where they lost 0-1 at home to the "Gunners" Arsenal last night, leaving the team stuck in the relegation zone. He questioned where the standards are.

In the game’s injury time at the 90+5 minute mark, with Arsenal leading 1-0, West Ham had a chance to equalize when Callum Wilson scored, but the goal was disallowed because VAR judged that West Ham's Pablo Felipe committed a foul on Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya first. This led to a painful home defeat for the Hammers, and here are Bowen’s heartfelt remarks.

“It’s very disappointing. We thought we did very well to get back into the game, but the chance was taken away from us.”

“If you watch the screen for five minutes, you should see something. If you ask me whether I think the decision was correct, I have to say no.”

“Where are the standards and consistency? As a fan, you don’t want to celebrate a goal, wait several minutes, then have it taken away, right?”

“If you’re going to call it a foul, then you have to apply that decision consistently every week. Last week, Tomas Soucek was pulled at Brentford, and we didn’t get a penalty.”

Regarding the relegation battle: “It’s going to be very tough. We never said it’s impossible for this club. We have two games left. We did many good things today. We even need to win.”
