The 'Blues' Chelsea have secured a new manager with a four-year contract, who will also participate in player recruitment.
Fabrizio Romano, the renowned journalist, declared HERE WE GO!!! confirming that Chelsea, a Premier League giant, have finalized an agreement to appoint Xabi Alonso as their new manager on a four-year deal.
Alonso, 44, has been out of work since being dismissed by Real Madrid last January after managing the club for only half a season. Recent reports state that the former Liverpool midfielder has secured a new job by signing a four-year contract with Chelsea.
Chelsea, who recently lost 0-1 to Manchester City in the FA Cup final last night, have been without a manager since sacking Liam Rosenior last month. Calum McFarlane has been serving as interim manager until the end of the season.
Although Chelsea considered Andoni Iraola from Bournemouth and Marco Silva from Fulham as replacements for Rosenior, the club's executives negotiated with Alonso over the past few days and successfully closed the deal. A key condition was Alonso's assurance of a significant role in player recruitment, which Chelsea fully agreed to grant.
The official announcement between Chelsea and Alonso is expected to be confirmed before the Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
