Manchester City Secures New Manager to Replace Pep Guardiola After This Season, Contract Duration Revealed

Manchester City has finalized their new manager, who will replace Pep Guardiola after this season, with the contract length revealed.

On 19 May 2026, BBC Sport and the Daily Mail both reported that Enzo Maresca, former manager of Leicester City and Chelsea, is set to become Manchester City's new head coach, succeeding Pep Guardiola who will leave the club at the end of this season.

According to the Daily Mail, Enzo Maresca has agreed to a three-year contract with Manchester City and will take over from Pep Guardiola, who will depart one year before his current contract expires, which ends in June 2027.

The 46-year-old Enzo Maresca previously served as Pep Guardiola's assistant at Manchester City from 2022 to 2023 after managing the club’s youth teams. He then moved to Leicester City and led them to promotion from the Championship back to the English Premier League.

Subsequently, Maresca guided Chelsea to win the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup during his 18 months in charge, before parting ways with the club in early January.
