European Club Teases Arsenal After Premier League Title Win After 22 Years

Bayer Leverkusen teased Arsenal about their corner kicks while also congratulating them on winning the Premier League.

On 20 May 2026, despite being rivals on the field, Bayer Leverkusen showed good sportsmanship by posting a message congratulating Arsenal on winning the Premier League for the first time in 22 years, accompanied by a joke that amused social media users.

The Bundesliga team posted a photo of a sideline sign near the corner flag originally reading "NO CORNERS," mocking Arsenal's style that relies heavily on set pieces and corner kicks. They covered the sign with a paper reading "Congrats Corner (crossed out) Arsenal!" accompanied by the caption, "We updated our sign… Congrats on winning the Premier League, @Arsenal!"

This teasing had clear context: earlier in the Champions League round of 16, Leverkusen had sparked a psychological war by posting a provocative image mocking Arsenal's dependence on set pieces before their match. Ultimately, Arsenal defeated Leverkusen 2-0 at the Emirates and advanced with a 3-1 aggregate score.

In the Premier League, Arsenal clinched the title after Manchester City drew 1-1 with Bournemouth.

Next, Arsenal will visit Crystal Palace in the Premier League on 24 May, before playing the crucial Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on 30 May at 23:00 GMT+7.
