Pep Guardiola Decides to Leave Manchester City Amid 115 Financial Rule Violation Charges

Pep Guardiola has officially decided to leave Manchester City amid 115 financial rule violation charges.

On 24 May 2026, Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, gave his latest interview ahead of his final Premier League match in charge this season, hosting Aston Villa tonight at 22:00.

Manchester City confirmed that Pep Guardiola will leave the club before his contract, which still has one year remaining, expires. He leaves with 20 trophies won during his 10 years in charge, including this season's Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

However, Manchester City remains under a cloud after the Premier League charged the club with 115 financial rule violations in February 2023, following a four-year investigation. The alleged breaches occurred between 2009 and 2018.

Manchester City strongly denies all allegations and insists there is overwhelming evidence supporting their case, despite the Premier League's claim that the club breached rules requiring accurate financial disclosures. No verdict has been reached after three years.

Pep Guardiola spoke about the "Sky Blues" and the 115 financial rule violation charges, saying, "This matter will be resolved. I have faith in them because I have spoken with them, and I trust their behavior and actions."

Regarding his future after leaving Manchester City, the 55-year-old coach said, "I will not manage a team for a while, that's the only thing. I promise that if I still have the energy, I will stay here with them; otherwise, I will remain here. To be honest, I deserve to rest."

Pep Guardiola will continue his relationship with City Football Group, the owners of Manchester City, serving as a global ambassador. This role will allow him to provide technical advice to affiliated clubs and work on specialized projects and collaborations.
