Here we go: Liverpool has made a decision after Klopp led the team to finish only 5th in the Premier League.
On 28 May 2026 GMT+7, The Mirror, a leading English media outlet, reported on Liverpool following the conclusion of the 2025-26 Premier League season, where they finished 5th and secured a spot in the UEFA Champions League, meeting the minimum target.
However, Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager, has come under intense pressure to be dismissed due to disappointing on-field results. Nevertheless, the Reds’ executives appear to be giving him a chance to continue fulfilling the remaining year of his contract.
But recently, sources revealed that Liverpool is already considering various options for a new manager, citing information from Gianluca Di Marzio, a well-known journalist from Sky Sports Italy.
Gianluca Di Marzio noted that Liverpool is among the clubs interested in Andoni Iraola, who will leave Bournemouth after his contract expires this summer. Similarly, AC Milan has contacted the Spanish coach to replace Massimiliano Allegri, who was recently sacked.
Besides Liverpool and AC Milan, Crystal Palace and Bayer Leverkusen also want to sign Andoni Iraola. Palace, having just won the UEFA Conference League, currently has the best chance but no agreement has yet been reached.
Di Marzio concluded that Liverpool’s negotiations with Iraola are more about future planning rather than an immediate appointment, meaning Liverpool might miss out on this coach if they continue to give Klopp more time to turn things around at Anfield.
