Liverpool's 3 star players may get a new future after 'Slot' was dismissed as manager.
On 1 Jun 2026 GMT+7, the Daily Express, a prominent UK media outlet, reported on the latest situation within Liverpool, currently fifth in the English Premier League, following the sacking of manager Arne Slot.
There is now a strong likelihood that Liverpool will appoint Andoni Iraola as the new manager, with official negotiations expected this week after initial contact with the Spanish coach's representatives.
Sources indicate that Iraola's arrival will affect the status of three players on the team, as Iraola favors players who can perform in multiple positions. This means some players rumored to be transferring this summer might remain at Anfield, as follows.
- A true Scouser who has risen through Liverpool's academy since age nine, Curtis Jones has been linked with a move to Inter Milan after his playing time diminished under Arne Slot's management.
However, Jones may get a second chance under Iraola, who values players with positional versatility. Jones can play as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder, and, in emergencies, right back.
- Another player from the Jürgen Klopp era overlooked during Arne Slot's tenure, Endo played only 12 matches in all competitions last season, mostly coming off the bench.
At 33, Endo might not have a major role under Iraola but could still be valuable as a substitute. Naturally a defensive midfielder, he can also cover as a defender or right back if needed. He is contracted to Liverpool until the end of next season.
- Due to a purchase clause tied to appearances, Elliott played just 11 matches last season while on loan at Aston Villa. Despite winning the Europa League there, he had little impact under Unai Emery.
The England international and last year's U-21 European Championship Player of the Tournament may have a renewed future at Anfield if Iraola, who favors young talent, becomes manager. The 23-year-old can play as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder, and right winger.
