Farewell to Liverpool star secures new team after parting ways with the Reds, contract details revealed.
On 18 June 2026 GMT+7, Spanish La Liga giant Real Madrid officially announced the signing of Ibrahima Konaté, the French national team defender for the 2026 World Cup, following his departure from Premier League powerhouse Liverpool.
Ibrahima Konaté parted ways with Liverpool after failing to reach a contract extension agreement, despite reports of negotiations since November last year, eventually leaving Anfield on a free transfer.
Recently, Real Madrid confirmed they have secured Ibrahima Konaté on a 4-year contract until June 2030 GMT+7. For this transfer, the 'Los Blancos' did not pay a transfer fee to Liverpool.
Ibrahima Konaté is the third new signing for Real Madrid this summer transfer window, following Marc Cucurella (from Chelsea for £52 million) and Bernardo Silva (out of contract from Manchester City).
