Man Utd in talks, aiming to sign the '2026 World Cup Star' as their second summer signing.
On 3 July 2026 GMT+7, Ben Jacobs, a well-known transfer market journalist from Talksport, reported that Manchester United has opened negotiations to sign Krisencio Sumerville, the Netherlands winger from the 2026 World Cup.
Man Utd has seen little progress in strengthening their squad this summer after securing Brazilian midfielder Ederson from Atalanta as their first signing before the 2026 World Cup, brought in to replace the injured Roma right-back Wesley who withdrew.
Recently, Ben Jacobs stated, "Man Utd has started direct talks with West Ham regarding Krisencio Sumerville, involving direct contact between the clubs."
"Sources at Manchester United say this is an initial negotiation, but the Dutch winger is a key target for Man Utd. Any offer may depend on selling Marcus Rashford first."
Sumerville's transfer fee is expected to be around £50 million after his strong performances last season with West Ham and at the 2026 World Cup. Although the Netherlands lost to Morocco on penalties in the round of 32, Sumerville impressed by scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists in 4 matches.
Meanwhile, Man Utd hopes to sell Marcus Rashford before signing Krisencio Sumerville. Rashford has a release clause of £40 million for any club except their long-time rivals Liverpool and city rivals Manchester City.
