Manchester United Quickly Secures Second New Player, Reveals Transfer Fee After Ederson Deal Falls Through

Manchester United has quickly secured their second new player, revealing the transfer fee after the Ederson deal fell through.

On 13 July 2026 GMT+7, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Manchester United has swiftly completed the signing of Belgian international midfielder Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa, a fellow Premier League club.

Romano stated that Manchester United paid the €41 million (£35 million) release clause to Aston Villa and have agreed on personal terms with the player.

Youri Tielemans, having just finished his duties at the 2026 World Cup after Belgium's exit in the quarterfinals, has also accepted Manchester United's project.

Thus, 29-year-old Tielemans becomes the second midfielder to join Manchester United this summer, following André Santos who transferred from Chelsea, after the Ederson deal collapsed due to complications during additional medical examinations.
