"Iraola" has made a decision about the futures of two Liverpool stars following rumors of possible summer transfers.
On 22 July 2026, Andoni Iraola, Liverpool's coach, gave his latest interview regarding the futures of Alexis Mac Allister and Alisson Becker, two key players linked with possible moves before the start of the new English Premier League season.
Alexis Mac Allister, the Argentine midfielder, has two years remaining on his contract and has yet to begin talks on a new deal, fueling rumors that he might leave Anfield this summer.
But Andoni Iraola said at a press conference in Chicago, before Liverpool's pre-season tour in the United States, that he still wants Alexis Mac Allister to remain with the Reds. "I think Alexis has been one of the club's best players in recent years, and he performed excellently at the World Cup."
"So it's natural for other clubs to want to sign such a talented player from us. This always happens in the transfer market, but I want to keep our best players. I look forward more to signing new players than losing the ones we have."
Meanwhile, Alisson Becker, Brazil's number one goalkeeper, has only one year left on his Liverpool contract and has been linked with a move to Juventus. However, Iraola confirmed he wants to rely on the 33-year-old goalkeeper's experience in the upcoming season.
The Liverpool coach said, "I am very happy with our current goalkeeper situation. Alisson plays a key role in the dressing room, especially when the team is missing some experienced players."
"I believe he will certainly help us in integrating new and young players. We need key pillars like Virgil van Dijk, Alisson, and Joe Gomez, who have been with the club for a long time."
