Breaking: Major Media Reports Leicester Preparing to Sell Club, Valuation Completed, First Buyers Await

Breaking: Major media reports that Leicester City is preparing to sell the club, with valuation completed and initial buyer groups waiting.

On 23 July 2026 GMT+7, Sky Sports, a leading sports media outlet, reported that the King Power group, owners of Leicester City, have clearly expressed their intention to sell the club after its relegation from the Championship to League One.

Sources revealed that Leicester City has begun approaching and discussing with companies and investor groups to gauge who might be seriously interested in purchasing the club.

Sky Sports confirmed that an "unnamed company from the Middle East" has shown serious interest in acquiring Leicester City, marking the first publicly disclosed interested party in this process.

Meanwhile, Leicester City's owners are fully engaged, working with Citigroup investment bankers to explore all possibilities and identify potential buyers for the entire club business.

An independent valuation indicates that the entire asset package—including the Seagrave training ground, stadium, and the club overall—is likely to attract offers in the range of £410 million to £530 million.

King Power acquired Leicester City in 2010 and led the club to historic achievements, including their first-ever Premier League title in the 2015-16 season, the FA Cup in 2020-21, and the Community Shield in 2021.

However, following financial difficulties after relegation from the Premier League in the 2024-25 season, the "Foxes" continued to struggle, faced point deductions, and were relegated from the Championship in the latest season to League One. This marks their first drop to the third tier of English football in 17 years, since the 2008-09 season.
