"The Reds" Liverpool showcased an outstanding performance, defeating "The Black Cats" Sunderland in an exciting fashion to open their preseason in the United States under the leadership of new manager Andoni Iraola in his first match in charge.
In a club friendly match on the morning of Sunday, 26 July 2026, at Geodis Park, Nashville, USA (neutral ground), "The Reds" Liverpool faced off fiercely against "The Black Cats" Sunderland.
In the 13th minute of the first half, Liverpool took the lead 1-0. Harvey Elliott passed to Kieran Morrison on the right, who cut inside and struck a left-footed shot that slid into the far post.
Then in the 28th minute, Sunderland equalized 1-1. Enzo Le Fe carried the ball to the edge of the penalty area and fired a beautiful long-range shot into the top corner. The half ended with this score.
